About Joe

Joe Picard is a intermedia artist working primarily in cinematography and photography. With over ten years of experience performing commercial, narrative, documentary, and experimental works, Joe is dedicated to the life that it creates.

He is a third generation photographer and film maker. While in High School he founded a TV club and started an ongoing TV program showcasing student productions.

At Fitchburg Stage College he earned a degree in communications with concentrations in film production and photography. As he graduated he established himself in Boston, working as a photographer’s assistant, a film set photographer and as a cinematographer. He produced independent short films, art exhibits, advertising and editorial photography.

A synchronistic series of events led him to Santa Fe New Mexico where on his arrival in 2002 he quickly entangled with the efforts of the emerging High Mayhem Studios. Since then, as the moving image director, Picard has collaborated on the development of the organization, the production of seven annual-three-day High Mayhem Festivals and over 75 High Mayhem events throughout the years.

Synchronicity Pictures documents weddings and other events with photography and moving image while employing a playful  documentary aesthetic and emotional motion picture film montages.

Picard has exhibited art work at the Obscura gallery, BANG!, 707 Contemporary, and at High Mayhem art shows. He is currently in post-production of “High Mayhem; Nuclei and Atmosphere” an experimental documentary.

In 2008 Picard relocated to San Francisco. He is a key on at Autofuss, a commercial production studio with employs industrial arts to produce creative experiments and commercial arts.
