About Joe
Joe Picard is a multimedia artist working primarily in photography and motion picture. With over ten years of experience performing commercial, editorial, documentary, and experimental works, Joe is dedicated to the business and life that this creates.
He is a third generation photographer and film maker. While in High School he founded a TV club and started an ongoing TV program showcasing student productions.
At Fitchburg Stage College he earned a degree in communications. In four years he was the first student to simultaneously complete both the film production and still photography tracks. While doubling his focused course load he earned a 3.9 within his major. As he graduated he established his company, Synchronicity Pictures. During his two years in Boston working as a photographer’s assistant, a set photographer and a cinematographer he produced independent short films, art exhibits and commercial editorial photography.
A synchronistic series of events led him to Santa Fe New Mexico where on his arrival in 2001 he quickly entangled with the efforts of the emerging High Mayhem Studios. Since then, as the moving image director, Picard has collaborated on the development of the organization, the production of seven annual-three-day High Mayhem Festivals and over 75 High Mayhem events throughout the years.
Synchronicity Pictures today is a photography, film and video production, and post-production company. Clients include Site Santa Fe, The College of Santa Fe, St. Johns College, CCA Santa Fe, Santa Fe Trends Magazine, Local Flavor Magazine, SeeThrough Films, Goler Shoes and Donald J. Pliner, Blue Lotis Films, 747Media, Rick Schmit, 707 Contemporary, Zane Bennett Contemporary, Santa Fe Opera, and The Del Sol String Quartet.
Synchronicity Pictures documents weddings and other events with photography and moving image while employing a playful documentary aesthetic and emotional motion picture film montages.
Picard has exhibited art work at the Obscura gallery, BANG!, 707 Contemporary, and at High Mayhem art shows. He is currently in post-production of “High Mayhem; Nuclei and Atmosphere” an experimental documentary.
Recently Picard has relocated to the Bay Area. He is building a network of collaborators and is excited to be working in this creative market.
